Knots, Macrame & Rope Work Editorial Review
The Marlinspike Sailor is a book on marlinspike seamanship aimed at both recreational yachtsmen and commercial sailors. It is described as being more than just a primer on knot-tying, with personal stories, jokes, quotes, and real-world applications included throughout the book. The author, Hervey Garrett Smith, provides clear instructions on how to replicate the knots presented, with step-by-step images to aid understanding. Despite some printing issues with a few copies, the book has received positive reviews overall, with many customers recommending it as an essential addition to any mariner's library. One reviewer noted that there was no real difference between the first and second editions, while another expressed a desire for information on the suggested line types and lengths for each section. Overall, The Marlinspike Sailor seems to be well-received by those who have purchased it. While it may not be the most comprehensive book on the subject, it is still Considered a valuable resource for sailors of all levels.
