The Pioneer BDR-212V Blu-ray drive is an internal drive that can read and write Blu-rays, DVDs, and CDs. It can be used as a disc drive, but it needs to be connected to a compatible device and run software to play content stored on the discs. It cannot play content on its own. There is firmware support available for the drive on Vinpower Digital's website. The drive should fit any computer that uses SATA connections and has a 5 1/4" drive slot. It is not compatible with BDXL discs, and it is not recommended for use in a Windows 11 PC without a driver. Many customers found the drive easy to install and that it performed well, particularly when it came to reading discs. Some also found that the drive could not burn discs as quickly as advertised. There were some complaints about the drive not working at all, but generally, it received positive feedback. One major issue was with the DRM required for playing commercial Blu-rays, which required significant effort to set up.
